Girls’ Tennis Trio Advances to District Championship

Three members of the Central Catholic girls’ tennis team have qualified for the Division II District Championship. The 1st day of the 2-day postseason event will take place on Thursday, Oct. 13 at 10 am at Port Clinton High School.

Freshman Lauren Bishop advanced to districts in singles competition, while the team of senior Jane Cowell and freshman Jordan Traver qualified in doubles action.

This past weekend, Bishop finished runner up in singles at the Sectional Championship at Ottawa Hills High School, while Cowell and Traver placed 4th in doubles.

Earlier this fall, Bishop captured 4th place at No. 1 singles at the TRAC Championship, while Cowell and Traver finished 5th at No. 1 doubles. For their efforts on the court, Bishop was named 1st-team All-TRAC, while Cowell and Traver earned 2nd-team laurels.

Should the Fighting Irish advance to the District Semifinal & Final in their respective brackets, those matches will occur on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 10 am at Port Clinton HS.
