Football Trounces Mansfield Senior in Region 10 Semifinal of Division III State Playoffs, 41-10

The Central Catholic football team trounced Mansfield Senior, 41-10, on Friday in the 3rd round of the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) Division III State Playoffs at Robert Bishop, Jr. Stadium on the campus of Clyde High School. With the post-season win, CCHS stretches its winning streak to 28-consecutive games and improves to 13-0 overall.

Tonight’s triumph will now set up a Region 10 finals matchup vs. No. 3 seed Tiffin Columbian (11-2) on Friday, Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. at a neutral site. The Tornadoes defeated Medina Buckeye, 35-0, in the other Region 10 semifinal on Friday.

The No. 1 seed in Region 10, CCHS scored 41 unanswered points against the Tygers and finished with a sizable 392-154 edge in total yards. The Scarlet & Gray also forced 2 interceptions and 1 fumble to overcome an early 10-0 deficit.

Individually, senior QB Terry Collins, Jr. completed an efficient 7-of-9 passes for 169 and 2 TDs. Senior RB Marquan Braswell tallied a game-high 111 yards on the ground and 1 TD, while senior WR Jaylen Watson had 3 catches for 86 yards and 1 score.

A member of the Ohio Cardinal Conference and the No. 4 seed in the region, Mansfield Senior ends its season with a 10-3 overall ledger.
