Football Travels to Findlay on Friday in TRAC Opener

The Central Catholic football team will begin its final season in the Three Rivers Conference (TRAC) when the Fighting Irish travel to Findlay (1-2) on Friday, Sept. 9. Kickoff is slated for 7 pm in Donnell Stadium. CCHS commences TRAC play riding a 25-game conference winning streak.

The Fighting Irish (2-1), the 4-time reigning TRAC champions, are coming off a dominating 40-10 victory against Olentangy Orange (1-2) on Friday at home.

The Scarlet & Gray jumped out to an early 21-0 lead and quickly extended its advantage to 33-0 at halftime vs. the Pioneers, sending the matchup into a running-clock situation for the entire second half.

Senior QB Ty’Waun Clark was nearly perfect throwing the ball in Friday’s non-league finale, completing 8-of-9 passes for 133 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Senior WR Durye’a Hall was Clark’s favorite target, finishing with 3 receptions for 81 yards and 2 TDs.

Senior RB Chris Edmonds also had a monster game running the ball. Edmonds totaled 105 yards on just 11 carries and found the end zone on 2 occasions. He has now topped the century mark in each of the last 2 games.

Through the first 3 games, Clark has completed 40-of-56 passes for 472 yards and 6 TDs, Edmonds has carried the ball 50 times for a team-high 314 yards with 4 scores, and Hall has caught a squad-tying best 10 passes for a team-high 142 yards and 2 TDs.

The Trojans enter Friday’s matchup on the heels of a 35-19 road victory against Bowling Green. They also lost to Anthony Wayne, 9-6, in their opener on Aug. 19 and dropped a 49-21 decision vs. Perrysburg on Aug. 26.

A season ago, the Fighting Irish defeated Findlay, 41-6, at home. CCHS amassed 351 yards of total offense, with 250 passing and 111 rushing, to secure its 9th-straight triumph against the Trojans. Clark accounted for four touchdowns in the matchup, three passing and one rushing. He completed an efficient 16 of 19 passes for 231 yards. Senior WR Javon Murphy hauled in a game-high seven catches for 89 yards, while 2022 graduate RB Josh Watson had a game-high 62 rushing yards. Central Catholic was also stout defensively, holding Findlay to just 200 total yards (145 rushing and 55 passing).
