Girls’ Basketball Beats Margaretta in Non-League Contest, 45-36

The Central Catholic girls’ basketball team registered a 45-36 victory against Margaretta on Monday in the Sullivan Center. With the non-conference win, CCHS improves to 9-0 on the season.

Sophomore Corniya Clay led the unbeaten Fighting Irish with a game-high 17 points, followed closely by classmate Emily Baer with 15. Clay and Baer did most of their damage in the first half, combining for 23 points to help the Scarlet & Gray build a 29-21 advantage at the break.

Eden Palomo, Kylie Leibacher, and Devyne Eisenhauer each had 10 points for the visiting Polar Bears.

Earlier in the evening, the CCHS Junior Varsity squad suffered a tough 47-46 overtime setback against Margaretta.

Central Catholic will return to the hardwood against Three Rivers Athletic Conference power Notre Dame on Thursday, Jan. 6. Junior Varsity will get the action started at 6 pm in the Sullivan Center, followed by Varsity at 7:30 pm.
