Girls’ Basketball Defeats Perrysburg in Non-League Road Contest, 53-47

The Central Catholic girls’ basketball team claimed an impressive 53-47 win against Perrysburg on Thursday in the Perrysburg HS Gym. With the non-conference victory, the Fighting Irish improve to 7-1 on the season.

The Scarlet & Gray broke open a 1-possession contest at the intermission by outscoring the Yellow Jackets 14-5 in the pivotal 3rd quarter.  

Junior Brooklyn Vaughn paced CCHS with a season-high 20 points and a season-best 19 caroms to post yet another double-double.

Central Catholic also received 13 points from senior Jai’Lynne Hitt-Swartz and 10 by junior Corniya Clay, helping the visitors escape Wood County with the hard-fought win.

Hayley Griggs led the host Yellow Jackets (5-3) with 11 points, followed closely by Megan Gibbs with 10.

Earlier in the evening, the CCHS junior varsity squad lost to Perrysburg, 46-26.

Central Catholic will return to the hardwood against Springfield on Wednesday, Dec. 28. The opening tip versus the Blue Devils is scheduled for 7:15 pm in the Springfield HS Gym.
