Girls’ Basketball Duo Collect All-Ohio Accolades
Central Catholic girls’ basketball players Brinn Hunt and Brooklyn Vaughn received All-Ohio recognition on Tuesday according to the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association. Hunt was named Special Mention All-Ohio, while Vaughn was selected Honorable Mention all-state.
A senior, Hunt averaged a team-high 11.5 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals per game this past season. The 2021-22 TRAC Player of the Year shot 49 percent from the field, including 36 percent from three-point land, and 85 percent from the free throw line.
A sophomore, Vaughn contributed 10.8 points, a squad-best 11.3 boards, 2 helpers and 2 thefts per contest in 2021-22. She shot an efficient 50 percent from the floor.
Hunt and Vaughn helped the Fighting Irish post a 24-2 overall record in 2021-22, including a perfect 14-0 mark in the Three Rivers Athletic Conference. The Scarlet & Gray captured its first outright league championship and advanced to the regional semifinal.
