Girls’ Basketball Edges Out Bowsher in Home Opener, 41-38

The Central Catholic girls’ basketball team claimed a 41-38 victory against Bowsher on Wednesday in its home opener in the Sullivan Center. With the hard-fought win, the Fighting Irish improve to 2-0 on the season.

Senior Corniya Clay and senior Brooklyn Vaughn led a balanced attack with 10 points each, helping CCHS extend its winning streak to 9 games dating back to last winter.

Sophomore Serinity Bolden also contributed 9 points in last night’s non-conference triumph, followed closely by senior Sophia Farrugia with 8 points.

This quartet combined for 90 percent (37 pts.) of CCHS’s point total.

Earlier in the evening, the junior varsity squad also defeated the Blue Racers, 35-20. In addition, the freshman team outlasted Eastwood, 27-16.  

The Fighting Irish will return to action vs. North Allegheny Senior on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 6 p.m. at the Archbishop Hoban Hoopfest in Akron.
