Swimming & Diving Begins Season with Splash at Berea Midpark Invite

The Central Catholic swimming & diving team kicked off its 2023-24 season at last weekend’s Berea Midpark Invitational in fine fashion. The 1-day invite took place at the Carr Pool in the Philips Physical Education Center on the campus of Oberlin College.

The Fighting Irish shattered 3 program records in their 1st competition of the season. 

Junior Alex Cherry established new school marks in the 200 individual medley (2:40.79) and the 100 breaststroke (1:16.69), while the team of junior Addison Brinkman, junior Jordan Traver, junior Addison Winkler, and sophomore Anna Preston broke the record in the 200-medley relay (2:26.81). 

CCHS will return to the pool for a tri-meet against Clay and Ottawa Hills on Tuesday, Dec. 12 at the Eastern Community Branch YMCA at 4:30 p.m.
