Girls’ Basketball Loses to Archbishop Hoban at Northwest Christmas Showdown, 61-31
The Central Catholic girls’ basketball team dropped a 61-31 decision against Archbishop Hoban on Saturday at the Northwest Christmas Showdown. With the neutral-site loss at Anthony Wayne High School, the Fighting Irish fall to 1-5 on the season.
Junior Nina Stevens paced CCHS with 11 points, followed by classmate Serinity Bolden with 8 points.
Finley Kennedy led the Knights with a game-high 18 points. Amariya Davis and Niera Stevens also contributed 11 and 9 points in the non-league matchup, respectively.
The Scarlet & Gray was outscored 23-6 in the pivotal 2nd quarter and could not recover. The duo of Davis and Kennedy spearheaded Hoban’s explosive 2nd period, combining for 17 of the 23 points.
Central Catholic will return to the hardwood against Sylvania Northview on Saturday, December 28, starting with the freshmen game at 12:15 p.m.
