Girls’ Basketball Loses to Lakota West in Classic in the Country, 65-56

The Central Catholic girls’ basketball team lost to Lakota West, 65-56, in the Classic in the Country on Saturday in the Perry Reese Jr. Community Center. With the neutral-court loss, CCHS falls to 6-4 overall.

The Firebirds outscored the Fighting Irish 18-4 in the 2nd quarter to take control of the non-league matchup.

Senior Corniya Clay paced the Scarlet & Gray with a season-high 23 points, while classmate Brooklyn Vaughn contributed 18 points and a squad-best 12 rebounds to post a double-double.

Lakota West (9-3) was led by Katie Fox with a game-high 28 points.

Central Catholic will return to the court against rival St. Ursula Academy on Wednesday, January 17 at 7:30 p.m. at SUA.
