Girls’ Basketball Comes Up Short vs. Lumen Christi Catholic on “Senior Night” at Home, 45-42

The Central Catholic girls’ basketball team suffered a 45-42 setback against Lumen Christi Catholic on Wednesday in the Sullivan Center.  With the loss on “Senior Night,” the Fighting Irish fall to 3-11 overall, 3-4 in the Catholic High School League.

Prior to the game, CCHS recognized senior captain Paris Waites and senior manager Rain Siravo.

Central Catholic was outscored 13-5 in the pivotal 4th stanza vs. the Titans to suffer its 3rd-straight setback.

Junior Nina Steven paced the Scarlet & Gray with 11 points. Stevens has now led the squad in scoring in each of the last 5 contests.

Junior Serinity Bolden also tallied 10 points in Wednesday’s conference matchup, while junior Marissa Justen had 8 points.

Kenna Hunt led LCC with a game-high 18 points, followed closely by Codi Ruge with 16 points.  The duo combined for 8 points in the final 8 minutes to help the visitors leave Cherry Street with the victory.

Central Catholic will return to the hardwood against Ottawa-Glandorf on Saturday, January 25, starting with the freshmen game at 11:30 a.m. in the Sullivan Center.  Tickets for Saturday’s non-conference matchup can be purchased at bit.ly/3EjJhky
