Girls’ Basketball Sprints Past St. Ursula Academy, 54-38

The Central Catholic girls’ basketball team tallied an impressive 54-38 triumph against arch-rival St. Ursula Academy on Monday in the Sullivan Center. With the double-digit home victory, the Fighting Irish improve to 6-0 overall, 4-0 in the Three Rivers Athletic Conference.

Sophomore Brooklyn Vaughn scored 14 points to lead a balanced CCHS team, helping the Scarlet & Gray remain unbeaten.

Junior Mary Ellis added 13 points, sophomore Emily Baer had 11, and senior Brinn Hunt chipped in with 10.

Julia Reichert paced the Arrows with nine points.

Earlier in the evening, the CCHS Junior Varsity squad suffered a 39-18 setback against SUA.

Central Catholic will return to the hardwood against TRAC foe Oregon Clay on Thursday, Dec. 16. Junior Varsity will get things started at 6 pm in the Clay HS Potter Field House, followed by Varsity at 7:30 pm.
