Girls’ Basketball Tabbed No. 1 Seed in Division II Sectional Tourney Draw in Whitehouse District
The Central Catholic girls’ basketball team has been tabbed as the No. 1 seed in the Division II sectional tourney draw in the Whitehouse District for the upcoming Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) State Tournament. The Fighting Irish have earned the district’s top seed for the 2nd-straight year.
The Scarlet & Gray (16-2), ranked No. 2 in the latest Associated Press Division II state poll, will open post-season play against No. 8 seed Woodward (5-10) on Thursday, Feb. 16 at 6 pm at Liberty Center High School.
If the Fighting Irish defeat the Polars Bears in the 1st round, they would play No. 3 seed Napoleon (7-12) on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 6 pm at Liberty Center.
Tournament play begins on Feb. 16, with the district finals slated for Saturday, Feb. 25 at 6 pm at Anthony Wayne High School.
A season ago, CCHS won its 1st district title since 2016.
Central Catholic returns to the hardwood against TRAC foe Clay this evening on the road. The opening tip versus the Eagles is scheduled for 7:30 pm in the Potter Field House. Tickets for tonight’s league matchup MUST be pre-purchased online at bit.ly/3DgukzS. Back on Dec. 15, CCHS defeated Clay, 62-32, in the Sullivan Center.
