Irish Dance Team Captures State Title in Large Hip-Hop

The Central Catholic High School trophy case got a little more crowded over the weekend. The Irish Dance Team (IDT) captured a state title in Large Hip-Hop at the 2023 OASSA State Cheer & Dance Championships on Saturday at Westerville North High School.

IDT secured its 5th state crown in 6 years in Hip-Hop. They claimed 3-straight state championships in 2018, 2019 and 2020 (Large), as well as in 2022.

The Scarlet & Gray also finished 3rd in Small Jazz competition and claimed the “Best Sportsmanship Award” voted on by other teams and coaches.

Over the course of the last 12 months, CCHS has won a whopping 6 state championships. In addition to IDT’s 3 state titles, the girls’ track & field team won both the 4×100- and 4×200-meter relays at the Division II state meet in June, while the football team most recently claimed the Division II state crown in December.
