Girls’ Basketball Takes Down Rival St. Ursula Academy at Home, 50-34
The Central Catholic girls’ basketball team ousted rival St. Ursula Academy, 50-34, on Monday in the Sullivan Center. With the home win, CCHS improves to 3-8 overall, 3-2 in the Catholic High School League.
The Fighting Irish outscored the Arrows 24-7 over the course of the 2nd and 3rd quarters to help them win back-to-back games for the 1st time this season.
Junior Nina Stevens paced the victorious Scarlet & Gray with 19 points, followed closely by classmate Serinity Bolden with 15 points.
CCHS also benefited from 7 points by sophomore Madison Stricker.
Riley Reichert led SUA with a game-high 21 points. The Arrows’ next highest scorers were limited to 4 points each.
Earlier in the day, the CCHS freshmen team suffered a 38-10 setback vs. SUA, while the junior varsity squad dropped a 27-22 decision.
Central Catholic will return to the hardwood against Father Gabriel Richard on Friday, January 17, starting with the junior varsity game at 4 p.m.
