Boys’ Basketball Throttles Rival St. Francis de Sales at Home, 62-40

The Central Catholic boys' basketball team throttled St. Francis de Sales, 62-40, on Tuesday in the Sullivan Center.  With the impressive home victory, the Fighting Irish improve to 8-2 overall, 3-1 in the Catholic High School League (CHSL).

CCHS posted a decisive 14-2 advantage at the free-throw line and a 6-2 edge from beyond the arc to avenge a pair of loss against the arch-rival Knights a season ago.

Sophomore Isaiah Mack-Russell and classmate Cayden Kynard paced the victorious Scarlet & Gray with 19 and 17 points, respectively.

The Fighting Irish also benefited from 12 points by junior Draden Wardrop to help propel them to their 6th double-double digit win this year.

Raheem Brown and Chris Poellnitz led the visiting Knights with 9 points each.

Earlier in the evening, the CCHS freshman team dropped a 42-33 decision vs. SFDS, while the junior varsity squad secured a 49-34 triumph.

|Central Catholic will return to the hardwood against St. John's Jesuit on Friday, January 17, starting with the freshmen game at 4:15 p.m. in the Sullivan Center.  Back on December 17, the Fighting Irish registered a 65-57 victory vs. SJJ in the Titan Dome.  Tickets for Friday's CHSL matchup can be purchased at bit.ly/3EjJhky.
