Girls’ Basketball Takes Down Rival St. Ursula Academy on Road, 41-29
The Central Catholic girls’ basketball team registered a 41-29 victory against rival St. Ursula Academy on Monday in the SUA Fieldhouse. With the win, CCHS improves to 5-14 overall, 4-5 in the Catholic High School League.
The Fighting Irish outscored the host Arrows 19-6 at the charity stripe.
Junior Serinity Bolden led the Fighting Irish with 10 points, helping the Scarlet & Gray sweep the regular-season series vs. SUA. Back on January 13, Central Catholic defeated St. Ursula Academy, 50-34, at home.
Junior Nina Stevens also contributed 9 points in the road victory, followed closely by freshman Azariah Tilghman, senior Paris Waites, and junior Marissa Justen with 6, 5, and 5 points, respectively.
Riley Reichert paced the host Arrows with a game-high 11 points.
Earlier in the evening, the CCHS freshmen team suffered a 17-9 road setback vs. SUA, while the junior varsity squad secured a 30-10 victory.
Central Catholic will hold “Colton Strong Kids Night” at its game vs. Notre Dame Academy on Wednesday, February 5. The varsity contest is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the Sullivan Center. Tickets can be purchased by clicking HERE (bit.ly/3EjJhky). The Stanley family has created Colton Strong Kids, an organization to support area children who are fighting pediatric cancer. At Wednesday’s matchup, the family, along with students from Sideline Spirit, will be selling raffle tickets for $1 each to win several prize baskets. The raffle baskets have been donated by faculty and staff. They will also be collecting gift cards and monetary donations for the organization.
