Girls’ Basketball Wallops Streetsboro at Classic in the Country, 77-35
The Central Catholic girls’ basketball team secured a 77-35 victory against Streetsboro on Monday at the Classic in the Country at Berlin Hiland High School. With the dominating neutral-site win, CCHS improves to 13-1 overall.
The Fighting Irish jumped out to a commanding 17-3 advantage after the opening 8 minutes and never looked back, extending their winning streak to 12-consecutive games.
Junior Brooklyn Vaughn paced the Scarlet & Gray with a season-high 24 points and 14 rebounds to post yet another double-double.
Classmate Corniya Clay added 18 points against the Rockets (9-5), followed by senior Jada Dames and senior Mary Ellis with 11 and 9 points, respectively.
For their efforts on Monday, Vaughn and Clay were both named to the Classic in the Country All-Event Team.
Central Catholic returns to the hardwood versus Findlay on Thursday, Jan. 19. The opening tip vs. the Trojans is slated for 7:30 pm in the Sullivan Center. Tickets for Thursday’s league matchup MUST be pre-purchased online at bit.ly/3EjJhky.
