Boys’ Basketball Rallies Past Perrysburg on Road, 63-59

The Central Catholic boys’ basketball team posted a 63-59 victory against Perrysburg on Saturday in the Perrysburg HS Gym. With the non-conference win, CCHS improves to 10-2 overall.

The Fighting Irish shot a near perfect 9-of-10 from the charity stripe in the final period to take down the Yellow Jackets (10-4).

Junior Isaiah Brenneman and sophomore Makhi Leach each scored 16 points to pace the Scarlet & Gray, followed closely by senior Michael Greenlee Jr. with 14 points.

Gavin Fenneken led host Perrysburg with a game-high 17 points, while Matt Watkins and Avery Hunt contributed 16 and 10 points, respectively.

Earlier in the evening, the CCHS freshman team claimed a 31-23 triumph against the Yellow Jackets, while the junior varsity squad registered a 55-46 win.

Central Catholic will return to the hardwood versus arch-rival St. Francis de Sales on Wednesday, Jan. 18. The opening tip vs. the Knights is scheduled for 7:30 pm in the Sullivan Center. Tickets for Wednesday conference matchup MUST be pre-purchased online at bit.ly/3EjJhky.
