Boys’ Basketball Hammers Clay at Home, 68-24

The Central Catholic boys’ basketball team returned to its winning ways on Friday, claiming a 68-24 victory against Clay in the Sullivan Center. With the commanding win, CCHS improves to 9-2 overall, 5-1 in the Three Rivers Athletic Conference.

The Fighting Irish stepped up their defensive efforts vs. the Eagles, holding them to less than 7 points in 3 of the quarters.

Offensively, junior Isaiah Brenneman paced the Scarlet & Gray with a game-high 15 points, helping the home team bounce back from Tuesday’s setback at Whitmer.

Senior Michael Greenlee Jr. added 12 points for the victors, while classmate Ty’Waun Clark had 8 points.

Mason Heintschel led the Eagles (2-12, 0-7 TRAC) with 9 points.

Earlier in the evening, the CCHS freshman team suffered a 32-23 loss against Clay, while the junior varsity squad claimed a 37-34 win.

Central Catholic will return to the hardwood versus Perrysburg on Saturday, Jan. 14. The opening tip vs. the Yellow Jackets is slated for 5:30 pm in the Perrysburg HS Gym. Tickets for tonight’s non-conference matchup MUST be pre-purchased online at bit.ly/3iBFVT5.
