Girls’ Basketball Throttles Lima Senior at Home, 76-43

The Central Catholic girls’ basketball team posted a 76-43 victory against Lima Senior on Thursday in the Sullivan Center. With the resounding triumph, CCHS improves to 12-1 overall, 8-0 in the Three Rivers Athletic Conference.

Junior Corniya Clay paced the Fighting Irish with a season-high 21 points, helping the Scarlet & Gray claim its 23rd-straight league victory.

Junior Brooklyn Vaughn added 17 points and a contest-best 16 rebounds to tally another double-double for the reigning TRAC champions, while classmate Emily Baer contributed 10 points in the dominating home victory.

Anya James led the visiting Spartans with 10 points.

Along with Thursday’s emphatic win, CCHS swept the regular-season series vs. Lima Senior, claiming a 69-24 road victory on Nov. 28.

Central Catholic returns to the hardwood against Streetsboro on Monday, Jan. 16 as part of The Classic in the Country. The opening tip versus the Rockets is scheduled for 10:30 am at Hiland High School. Tickets for Monday’s non-conference matchup MUST be pre-purchased online at bit.ly/3IFTgV5.
