No. 1 Seed Girls’ Basketball Demolishes Celina to Secure Sectional Title, 66-36

The Central Catholic girls’ basketball team posted an emphatic 66-36 victory against Celina on Monday in the Division II sectional finals at Ayersville High School. With the neutral-court triumph, CCHS improves to 22-1 on the season.

The top-seeded Fighting Irish sprinted out to a 20-2 first-quarter advantage and never looked back versus the 12th-seeded Bulldogs.

2021-22 Three Rivers Athletic Conference Player of the Year senior Brinn Hunt paced a balanced Scarlet & Gray attack with a game-high 14 points.

Sophomore Brooklyn Vaughn added 13 points for the 2021-22 TRAC champions, while junior Mary Ellis and sophomore Corniya Clay each had 11.

Central Catholic will now face reigning Division II state champion Napoleon (19-5) in the district semifinals on Thursday, Feb. 24 at 5:30 pm at Paulding High School.
