Five Girls’ Basketball Players Earn All-District VII Recognition

Five players on the Central Catholic girls’ basketball team have been named to the All-District VII Division II squad. CCHS’s five honorees tied for the most by any school. In addition, second-year Head Coach Ericka Haney earned Coach of the Year recognition.

The Fighting Irish (22-1), who recently won their first outright Three Rivers Athletic Conference (TRAC) championship, had two first-team selections. That list included senior Brinn Hunt and sophomore Brooklyn Vaughn.

Sophomore Corniya Clay also garnered second-team honors, while junior Mary Ellis and sophomore Emily Baer received honorable mention accolades.

Central Catholic, the No. 1 seed in the Paulding District for the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) State Tournament, will play No. 3 seed and reigning Division II state champion Napoleon in the district semifinals on Thursday, Feb. 24 at 5:30 pm at Paulding High School.
