Scholarship Gala Raises Over $400,000

Over 330 guests enjoyed Central Catholic’s 32nd-annual scholarship fundraiser, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, on March 23 at the Pinnacle.  The evening included online and in-person auction items, casino games, raffles, a “race to Tiffany's” with celebrity taxi cab drivers, food, fun, and fundraising, all to benefit the CCHS scholarship fund.

Honorary chairs for this event were John (Class of 1984) and Ann Bishop and the Bishop family.  Rich and Connie Cronin were the presenting sponsors.  The event chair was Shelly Seymour (’89).

“This event is our most important fundraiser of the year,” said Eric Stockard (’75), Central Catholic’s Vice President for Institutional Advancement.  “Every dollar we bring in directly benefits student scholarships, which means that the more money we raise, the more students we can impact.  Central Catholic has been educating the next generation of leaders for over 100 years, and we want to be able to continue that momentum for years to come.”

Gary Thompson, past board member, was the emcee for the “taxi cab race with celebrity drivers” including Priest Leader Fr. David Kidd, Head of School Kevin Parkins, CCHS Principal Morgan Delp (‘11), past school president Rev. Monsignor Michael Billian, Greg Dempsey (‘90) - athletic director and head football coach of the back-to-back state champion Fighting Irish - and Fran Krompak (’58), retired Central Catholic coach, teacher, and guidance counselor.  Guests bid on the taxis and became “owners.”  Dice were rolled and the taxis moved toward the finish line based on the numbers on the dice.  The winning taxi was Greg Dempsey’s, and his owners received half the money raised in the taxi cab race event.  The other half went to the scholarship fund.

The winner of the 7-day / 6-night stay for two at the beautiful Makai Club Resort in Kauai, Hawaii was alumnus Dan Nester (’93).  The trip is valued at over $5,000 and proceeds from the raffle also benefited the Central Catholic scholarship fund.

Thanks to everyone’s support and generosity, the event raised over $400,000 for student scholarships!!!
