Ty’Waun Clark Tabbed Finalist for 2023 Chuck Ealey Foundation High School Award

Central Catholic senior Ty’Waun Clark has been named a finalist for the 2023 Chuck Ealey Undefeated Spirit High School Award. Clark is 1 of 5 male student-athletes tabbed for this prestigious honor.

Each finalist will receive a scholarship to assist in their future educational goals. The winner receives a $500 college scholarship, and the 4 runners-up receive $125.

A football team captain and signal caller, Clark guided the Fighting Irish to their 5th state championship (1962, 2005, ‘12, ‘14, ‘22) in program history this past fall.

Individually, Clark completed 158-of-233 passes for 2,163 yards and 23 TDs. The 2nd-team All-District honoree also registered 942 yards on the ground, the 2nd-highest total on the team, on 150 attempts and 13 TDs.

As a team, CCHS finished with a 15-1 overall ledger and a perfect 7-0 mark in the TRAC, capturing its 5th-straight conference championship and ending with a 32-game league win streak in the TRAC’s final season.

Along with experiencing success on the gridiron, Clark was a solid contributor for the boys’ basketball team. The 6-foot-0 wing helped the Scarlet & Gray post a 20-5 overall record and an 11-3 ledger in the TRAC, capturing a share of the league championship. For his efforts on the hardwood, Clark was selected honorable mention all-conference and All-District 7.

In 2012, The Chuck Ealey Foundation launched its high school award program. In partnership with businesses and community groups in The Greater Toledo Area we sponsor 3 award programs: Football Award, Girls’ Basketball Award, and Essay Contest. Working with local sports media, high school coaches, and guidance counselors, the foundation identifies student leaders and athletes that live, share, and exemplify The Undefeated Spirit in all aspects of life. They seek out, recognize, and reward student leaders and student-athletes that use their Undefeated Spirit to advance themselves, their education, their peers, their team, and their community.
