Why did you choose to attend Central Catholic, and what’s the best thing about being here?
“I am the third generation on my dad’s side and fourth generation on my mom’s to attend Central Catholic, so I’ve always wanted to come here. There was a feeling I got when I walked in the door - a feeling that I’m home - and I never forgot that feeling. But I didn’t think it was going to happen. We live 35 minutes away and it just didn’t seem like it was going to work out. I was set to go to Anthony Wayne, and then on my last day of 8th grade I came home from school and found a note and a Central Catholic T-shirt.
“My parents told me I was going to be able to come to CCHS after all! I was so excited, I wore that CCHS shirt constantly. I still have it, and it hangs right in the middle of my closet. I see it all the time, and it reminds me of how grateful I am to be attending Central Catholic.
“Now my brother, Nathaniel, is a sophomore here. I feel like he and I are so different, but the teachers appreciate both of us individually for our own qualities. My brother, Jon, is in 8th grade and James is in 5th grade at St. Rose and they both want to come here too.”
Future Plans:
“I’d like to attend Lourdes University and major in adolescent/young adult education. My goal is to come back to Central Catholic to work as an English teacher or in administration. I want to be able to make a difference in the lives of students like my teachers have for me, and I want to see the school continue to grow.”
Irish Extra:
Alex was asked to speak at a diocesan professional development workshop for teachers that was held at Central Catholic. He spoke about his experiences at CCHS and the teachers who have influenced him, focusing on the message of knowing, loving, and serving God through Catholic education.
Mrs. Julie Saba, CCHS math department chair, said, “I had Alex in class last year and saw what a gentleman he was. He always greeted me when he entered the classroom and I knew of his involvement in student government and the Glee Club. He represented Central Catholic so well at our workshop. I learned so much more about him, and I think many would agree he is a great leader!”
