Central Catholic Activities:

  • National Honor Society

  • Irish Dance Team (IDT)

  • Sideline Spirit

  • Orchestra

Other Activities:
Beta Gamma - “It’s a learning and mentorship sorority for high school students.  We have meetings twice a month and do service projects and fundraising events. We’ve made sandwiches and collected warm clothing that we’ve distributed to homeless people in Toledo.”

Why did you choose to attend Central Catholic, and what’s the best thing about being here?
“My siblings, my cousin, and my nephew (Chantel and Derek Barksdale, Marcus Winters, and Timothy Little) all graduated from Central Catholic, and I had a great experience when I shadowed here.  I love our pep rallies and performing in front of people with IDT. It’s great to see everyone coming together and we have so much fun! I like how they honor all sports and that teachers and students get involved.

“I like to make people happy and make little jokes.  I love that the teachers play along with me on that. I’m always happy to be here, and I just want everyone to have a good day.”

Future Plans:
“I would like to major in nursing and become a CRNA, which is a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.  I’ve been looking at a few colleges, but I’m not sure where I want to go yet.”

Irish Extra:
CCHS literature teacher, Mrs. Angela Mills, was awarded a grant from the Book Love Foundation, and Diamond wrote a letter of recommendation for her in the grant application.  Mrs. Mills has been using the funds to build up her classroom library. Diamond said, “I always enjoyed the books that Mrs. Mills had in her classroom, and she found new books specifically for me to read that she thought I would like.  I wanted to make sure other students have that same opportunity.”

Mrs. Mills said, “I asked for student volunteers for the letter of recommendation because I felt that my students were already the ones benefiting from my small classroom library, so they would be the ones who could best express what an expansion could do for our class. Diamond was one of the volunteers, and I chose her because I knew how much she had enjoyed the books we had.”
