4 Fighting Irish Collect All-District 7 Division II Accolades

Four members of the Central Catholic girls’ basketball team have been selected to the All-District 7 Division II squad. The teams were selected by the head coaches within the district.

Highlighting the Fighting Irish’s selections was senior Brooklyn Vaughn, who was tabbed Player of the Year for a 2nd-straight season.  A 5-foot-11 forward, Vaughn has totaled a squad-best 11 double-doubles so far in 2023-24.  Late last week, she scored her 1,000th career point and was named All-Catholic in the Catholic High School League.

In addition, classmate Corniya Clay garnered 1st-team laurels, while fellow seniors Sophia Farrugia and Lauren Dempsey received honorable mention accolades.

Ranked as the No. 6 seed in Northwest 2 District-Old Fort, Central Catholic (15-7) returns to the hardwood against No. 12 seed Lake on Thursday, February 22 in the 1st round of sectionals at 7 p.m. in the Sullivan Center.
