6 Baseball Players Garner All-TRAC Honors; Jaxson Sanchez & Brian Bishop Selected 1st-Team All-League
Six Central Catholic baseball players were recognized by the Three Rivers Athletic Conference as the all-league squads were recently announced.
Senior Brian Bishop and junior Jaxon Sanchez earned a spot on the 1st team, senior Winston Delp and junior Kyle Wasserman were tabbed to the 2nd team, and senior Cody Markus and sophomore Beau Gardner collected honorable mention laurels.
The duo of Bishop and Sanchez are garnering all-conference accolades for the 2nd-straight year.
An honorable mention All-TRAC honoree in 2022, Sanchez hit a league-best .460 (29-for-63) with 29 runs scored, 2 home runs, and 12 RBI.
A 1st-team All-TRAC performer in 3 sports (football, boys soccer, baseball) during the 2022-23 school year, Bishop batted .325 (26-for-80) with 26 runs scored, 7 RBI, and 10 stolen bases. The 2-time 1st-team all-league baseball selection finished 21st in the TRAC in batting average.
Wasserman hit .316 (24-for-76) with 16 runs scored, 1 home run, 12 RBI, and 9 thefts. He ranked 25th in the conference in hitting.
Delp tallied a 3-1 ledger with 18 punchouts and a 1.28 ERA in 32.2 frames on the hill. He surrendered 12 runs, 6 earned, on 33 hits, ranking 5th in the league in ERA.
Markus posted a 3-1 record with 45 strikeouts and a miniscule 0.84 ERA in 25.0 innings on the mound. He allowed 3 runs, all earned, on 14 hits, finishing 2nd in the conference in ERA. He also batted .300 (12-for-40) with 6 runs scored and 10 RBI.
Gardner registered a 3-3 mark with 20 strikeouts and a 2.65 ERA in a team-high 37.0 innings on the bump. He gave up 25 runs, 14 earned, on 39 hits, standing 18th in the TRAC in ERA.
This spring, the Fighting Irish posted a 14-12 overall record, including a 7-7 ledger in the TRAC. They advanced to the Division II District Final for the 2nd time in the last 3 seasons.
