6 Fighting Irish Collect Division III All-District 7 Accolades
Six members of the Central Catholic boys’ basketball team have been named to the Division III All-District 7 team. The squads were selected by the head coaches within the district.
Highlighting the Fighting Irish’s honorees was sophomore Isaiah Mack-Russell, who was tabbed Player of the Year. A 6-foot-5 wing, Mack-Russell has scored at least 20 points on 11 occasions in 2024-25.
Junior Manny Johnson and junior Draden Wardrop also garnered 1st-team D-III All-District 7 laurels, sophomore Kaeden Carruthers and sophomore Cayden Kynard received 2nd-team accolades, while sophomore Cailan Hornbeak tallied honorable mention honors.
In addition, senior Dominic Spinazze II was chosen to the D-III All-Academic squad.
The quartet of Mack-Russell, Johnson, Wardrop, and Carruthers are earning all-district recognition for the 2nd-straight year.
Central Catholic has been selected as the No. 1 seed in the D-III Lake District for the OHSAA State Tournament. CCHS will begin district play against No. 4 seed Fremont Ross on Tuesday, February 25 at 6 p.m. at Lake High School.
Tickets for Tuesday’s neutral-court matchup MUST be purchased online at OHSAA.org/tickets (Basketball, Basketball – Boys, Division III, February 25, Find Game, Get Tickets). General admission tickets cost $5 for students and $8 for adults. Please note, all students MUST purchase a ticket to attend the game.
If the Fighting Irish defeat the Little Giants on Tuesday, they will play the winner of No. 2 seed Southview vs. No. 3 seed Rogers in the District Finals on Friday, February 28 at 7 p.m. at Lake.
