7 Softball Players Collect All-TRAC Recognition; Addy Brinkman & Ella Schuberg Named 1st-Team All-Conference

Seven Central Catholic softball players were recognized by the Three Rivers Athletic Conference as the all-league squads were recently announced.

Sophomore Addy Brinkman and sophomore Ella Schuberg were awarded spots on the 1st team, senior Aliciana Martinez and freshman Makenzie Coleman were tabbed to the 2nd team, and senior Mia Alvarado, junior Kelly Kitz, and junior Molly McGurk earned honorable mention accolades.

The quartet of Brinkman, Schuberg, Martinez, and Kitz are garnering All-TRAC laurels for the 2nd-straight year.

Schuberg hit .485 (49-for-101) with 33 runs scored, 1 home run, and 19 RBI. A 2022 2nd-team All-TRAC selection, she finished 1st on the team in hits and runs scored, 2nd in batting average and stolen bases (13), and 3rd in RBI and slugging percentage (.624). She also posted a 10-6 ledger with a 3.15 ERA in 113.1 innings on the mound, giving up 76 runs (51 earned runs) on 128 hits with 155 strikeouts.

Brinkman batted .430 (40-for-93) with 26 runs scored, 11 home runs, and 48 RBI. A 2-time 1st-team all-league honoree, she finished 1st on the team in slugging percentage (.882), round trippers, and RBI, tied for 2nd in doubles (9), and tied for 3rd in stolen bases (6). She also tallied an 8-3 mark with a 3.54 ERA in 61.1 frames on the mound, surrendering 50 runs (31 earned runs) on 64 hits with 101 punchouts.

Coleman batted .516 (48-for-93) with 31 runs scored, 2 home runs, and 32 RBI. She finished 1st on the team in batting average, doubles (12), and triples (6), 2nd in RBI and slugging percentage (.839) and tied for 3rd in thefts (6).

Martinez hit .433 (42-for-97) with 39 runs scored and 18 RBI. A 2022 honorable mention All-TRAC recipient, she paced the squad in runs scored, walks (14), and stolen bases (15), as well as ranking 2nd in triples (4), tied for 2nd in doubles (9), and 3rd in batting average and hits.

McGurk batted .310 (18-for-58) with 9 runs scored and 11 RBI. She finished 3rd on the squad in walks (7).

A 2022 honorable mention All-TRAC performer, Kitz hit .238 (20-for-84) with 17 runs scored and 12 RBI.

Alvarado hit .204 (11-for-54) with 13 runs scored and 7 RBI. She led the team in sacrifice hits (4).

This spring, the Fighting Irish posted a 19-9 overall record, including an 8-7 ledger in the TRAC’s final season.
