Boys’ Basketball Comes Up Just Short vs. Pickerington North at Hawk Invitational, 64-62

The Central Catholic boys’ basketball team sustained a 64-62 loss against Pickerington North on Saturday at the Hawk Invitational inside the Rossford Field House.  With the tough neutral-site setback, the Fighting Irish fall to 8-5 on the season.

For the 2nd-straight game, CCHS trailed by double digits heading into the final period.  As they did on Friday vs. University of Detroit Jesuit, the Fighting Irish fought all the way back and knotted the score in the waning seconds only to come up a little short.

Junior Manny Johnson paced Central Catholic with a season-tying best 21 points, sparked by 3 triples. A 6-foot-3 guard, Johnson has now poured in at least 20 points on 3 occasions this season.

Sophomore Isaiah Mack-Russell added 16 points, while junior Draden Wardrop had 8 points.

Arness Lawson led the Panthers (13-3) with a game-high 25 points, followed by JR Bates with 17 points.

Central Catholic will return to the hardwood against Brother Rice on Tuesday, January 28, starting with the freshmen game at 4 p.m.
