Boys’ Basketball Defeats Arch-Rival St. John’s Jesuit in Home Opener, 56-41

The Central Catholic boys’ basketball team registered a 56-41 win against arch-rival St. John’s Jesuit on Friday before 1,030 fans in the newly remodeled Sullivan Center. With the double-digit win, CCHS improves to 1-1 on the season, 1-0 in the Three Rivers Athletic Conference.

The Fighting Irish utilized a 17-0 run in the 2nd quarter to take control of its league and home opener.

Senior Michael Greenlee Jr. led a balanced Scarlet & Gray offense with 14 points, while classmate Noah Langford and sophomore Makhi Leach added 13 points each.

CJ Hornbeak tallied a game-high 22 points to pace the visiting Titans (2-3, 0-2 TRAC).

Earlier in the evening, the CCHS freshman squad defeated SJJ, 33-32, while the junior varsity team secured a 47-27 victory against its conference rival.

Central Catholic will return to the hardwood against Trotwood-Madison on Saturday, Dec. 17. The opening tip versus the Ram is slated for 6 pm in the Gym at Trotwood.
