Girls’ Basketball Races Past TRAC Foe Clay at Home, 62-32

The Central Catholic girls’ basketball team tallied a 62-32 victory against Clay on Thursday in the newly remodeled Sullivan Center. With the dominating triumph, the Fighting Irish improve to 6-1 overall, 5-0 in the Three Rivers Athletic Conference.

Junior Brooklyn Vaughn paced CCHS with 16 points and a contest-best 17 boards to post a double-double.

Classmates Corniya Clay and Emily Baer added 14 and 13 points, respectively, helping the Scarlet & Gray extend its league-winning streak to 20-consecutive games dating back to the 2020-21 season.

Kendra Steven led the visiting Eagles with 10 points.

Earlier in the evening, the CCHS freshman squad defeated Clay, 39-10, while the junior varsity team secured a 36-27 victory against its conference foe.

Central Catholic will return to the hardwood against Perrysburg on Friday, Dec. 23. The opening tip versus the Yellow Jackets is slated for 4 pm in the Perrysburg HS Gym.
