Girls’ Basketball Prevails Against Host St. Ursula Academy, 54-48
The Central Catholic girls’ basketball team secured a hard-fought 54-48 victory against St. Ursula Academy on Monday in the SUA Field House. With the road win, the Fighting Irish improve to 5-1 overall, 4-0 in the Three Rivers Athletic Conference.
Junior Brooklyn Vaughn paced CCHS with 15 points and a game-high 16 rebounds to post a double-double.
Classmate Corniya Clay added 12 points, helping the Scarlet & Gray extend its league-winning streak to 19-consecutive games dating back to the 2020-21 season.
Grace DeFoe scored a contest-best 17 points to lead the host Arrows, followed by Haley Glass and Julie Reichert with 13 and 11 points, respectively.
Earlier in the evening, the CCHS freshman squad defeated SUA, 32-18, while the junior varsity team lost to the Arrows, 39-32.
Central Catholic will return to the hardwood against Clay on Thursday, Dec. 15. The opening tip versus the Eagles is slated for 7:30 pm in the newly remodeled Sullivan Center.
