Boys’ Basketball Defeats Host Christ Presbyterian Academy at NXT LVL HoopsFest, 69-58

The Central Catholic boys’ basketball team claimed a 69-58 victory against Christ Presbyterian Academy (TN) on Friday in its final contest at the NXT LVL HoopsFest. With the win in Nashville, the Fighting Irish improve to 2-5 on the season.

CCHS outscored the host Lions 23-12 at the charity stripe to help the Scarlet & Gray snap a 5-game losing skid.

Freshman Isaiah Mack-Russell led a balanced Central Catholic offense with 15 points.

Sophomore Manny Johnson added 13 points, followed closely by classmates Kaeden Carruthers and Draden Wardrop with 12 points each. In addition, Johnson pulled down a season-high 11 rebounds, while Wardrop had 10 boards to post double-doubles.  

Maddux Routh paced CPA with a contest-best 17 points.

The Fighting Irish will return to action against Gilmour Academy on Tuesday, Jan. 2 at 4 p.m. in the Sullivan Center.
