Boys’ Basketball Suffers 69-51 Setback vs. State Champion Brentwood Academy at NXT LVL HoopsFest
The Central Catholic boys’ basketball team suffered a 69-51 setback against reigning state champion Brentwood Academy (TN) on Thursday at the NXT LVL HoopsFest on the campus of Christ Presbyterian Academy. With the neutral-court setback in Nashville, the Fighting Irish drop to 1-5 on the season.
The Eagles outscored Central Catholic, 40-24, over the course of the 2nd & 3rd quarters to hand the Scarlet & Gray its 5th-straight loss.
Freshman Isaiah Mack-Russell paced CCHS with a season-high 26 points. Half of Mack-Russell’s points came at the charity stripe, as he surpassed his previous-best effort of 20 points vs. Anthony Wayne on December 9.
Senior Isaiah Brenneman and sophomore Draden Wardop were Central Catholic’s next highest scorers with 9 and 7 points, respectively.
Tyler Tanner led Brentwood Academy with 23 points, followed by Ethan Hillsman with 10 points. A total of 7 Eagles contributed at least 5 points in the game.
The Fighting Irish will return to action against host Christ Presbyterian Academy on Friday, Dec. 29 in their 3rd and final game of the NXT LVL HoopsFest at 4 p.m. at CPA.
