Boys’ Basketball Dominates TRAC Foe Oregon Clay at Home, 61-38
The Central Catholic boys’ basketball team opened the second half of its Three Rivers Athletic Conference schedule with an impressive 61-38 victory against Oregon Clay on Friday in the Sullivan Center. With the dominating triumph, CCHS improves to 11-2 overall, 6-2 in the TRAC.
Junior Chico Johnson led the fifth-ranked Fighting Irish with a game-high 14 points.
Junior Michael Greenlee Jr. and freshman Mekhi Leach also contributed nine points for the Scarlet & Gray in the home win, followed closely by senior Josh Lee and junior Brian Bishop with eight. Lee nearly posted a double-double, finishing with a contest-best eight rebounds.
Earlier in the evening, the CCHS freshman team claimed a 33-20 victory against the Eagles, while the junior varsity squad registered a 44-20 triumph.
Central Catholic will return to the hardwood against TRAC rival St. Francis de Sales on Friday, Jan. 21. Freshman will begin the action at 4:45 pm versus the Knights in the Sullivan Center, followed by the junior varsity and varsity at 6 pm and 7:30 pm, respectively. Earlier this season, the Fighting Irish secured a 51-43 road win vs. SFS on Dec. 10 on Bancroft Street.
