Boys’ Basketball Emerges Victorious vs. Start on Road, 63-57

The Central Catholic boys’ basketball team rallied late to secure a 63-57 win at Start on Saturday. With the road victory, CCHS improves to 6-8 overall on the season.

The Fighting Irish outscored the Spartans 24-15 in the 4th quarter to successfully bounce back from Friday’s close setback vs. Detroit Catholic Central.

Freshman Isaiah Mack-Russell tied his season high with 29 points to lead the Scarlet & Gray. Mack Russell also poured in 29 points vs. St. Francis de Sales on Jan. 12.

Sophomores Manny Johnson and Draden Wardrop each added 11 points for Central Catholic.

J’Khai Jefferson led host Start (8-8) with 15 points, followed closely by J’Shai Jefferson and Connor Miekle with 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Earlier in the evening, the CCHS freshman team registered a 33-11 win vs. Start, while the junior varsity squad tallied a 40-38 road triumph.

Central Catholic will return to the court against Brother Rice on Tuesday, January 23 at 7:15 p.m. in the Sullivan Center.
