Boys’ Basketball Falls Short at TRAC Preseason Favorite Whitmer, 56-45

The Central Catholic boys’ basketball team dropped a 56-45 decision against Three Rivers Athletic Conference preseason favorite Whitmer on Tuesday in the Whitmer Field House. With the road loss, CCHS falls to 8-2 overall, 4-1 in the league.

The Fighting Irish were limited to 31.3 percent (15-of-48) from the field and 66.7 percent (10-of-15) from the charity stripe vs. the Panthers, snapping their 8-game winning streak.

Junior Isaiah Brenneman led the Scarlet & Gray with 10 points. Brenneman has now scored in double figures in 6-consecutive games.

CCHS also received 9 points from senior Michael Greenlee Jr. and 8 from sophomore Makhi Leach.

Antione West paced the host Panthers (7-4, 5-1 TRAC) with a game-high 25 points, while Pharrell House had 15 points.

Earlier in the evening, the CCHS freshman squad suffered a 45-36 setback against Whitmer, while the junior varsity team claimed a 65-41 victory.

Central Catholic will return to the hardwood versus Clay on Friday, Jan. 13. The opening tip vs. the Eagles is scheduled for 7:30 pm in the Sullivan Center. Tickets for Friday’s conference matchup MUST be pre-purchased online at bit.ly/3EjJhky.
