Girls’ Basketball Manhandles TRAC Rival Whitmer at Home, 49-33
The Central Catholic girls’ basketball team secured an impressive 49-33 win against Whitmer on Monday in the Sullivan Center. With the double-digit home victory, CCHS improves to 11-1 overall, 7-0 in the Three Rivers Athletic Conference.
The Fighting Irish outscored the Panthers 32-14 in the 2nd half to earn their 22nd-consecutive league triumph.
Senior Jai’Lynne Hitt-Swartz paced the Scarlet & Gray with 4 triples and a season-high 16 points.
Junior Corniya Clay added 12 points for the reigning TRAC champions, while classmate Brooklyn Vaughn contributed 11 points and a contest-high 12 rebounds to post another double-double.
Sydney Borer led Whitmer with a game-high 17 points, followed by Jada Shoup with 10.
Earlier in the evening, the CCHS freshman team also defeated the Panthers, 32-28, while the junior varsity squad claimed a 41-38 road triumph.
Central Catholic returns to the hardwood against Lima Senior on Thursday, Jan. 12. The opening tip versus the Spartans is scheduled for 6 pm in the Sullivan Center.
