- What subjects and grade levels do you teach?
I teach freshman English, both College Prep and Honors.
- What is your educational background?
I attended Clay High School in Oregon. I have a bachelor’s degree in English Creative Writing and a Masters in Education, Integrated Language Arts, from the University of Toledo.
- What inspired you to become a teacher?
I have always enjoyed reading and writing. I became a teacher because I want to help encourage the next generation to find joy in reading, especially those who are apprehensive about it. I am also passionate about helping students improve their writing skills. I believe my job is so important because reading, writing, and speaking are skills students will need well beyond high school.
- What made you want to teach at Central Catholic?
I love the sense of community at Central Catholic. Our students and staff come from all different backgrounds and have different experiences, but there is a sense of belonging for everyone here. That is very inspiring. Those who are here truly want to be here and work hard to ensure everyone's success, and I want to be a part of that.
- What are your hobbies or special interests?
In my free time, I love to sing and play piano. I'm a low-key person and would be perfectly happy drinking a cup of coffee while doing a puzzle or reading a book. I also love being outdoors and spending time with my husband, my 7-month-old son, and my dog.
