Boys’ Basketball Falters vs. St. Mary’s Preparatory in 2nd Half on Road, 71-47

The Central Catholic boys’ basketball team suffered a 71-47 loss against St. Mary’s Preparatory on Friday in the Dombrowski Fieldhouse. With the road loss, CCHS falls to 6-10 overall, 0-6 in the Catholic High School League.

The Fighting Irish were outscored 39-25 vs. the host Eaglets in the 2nd half to remain winless in conference games.

Sophomore Draden Wardrop paced the Scarlet & Gray with 15 points. Classmate Manny Johnson and freshman Isaiah Mack-Russell were the next highest scorers with 9 points each.

Trey McKenney led St. Mary’s Prep (12-1, 7-1 CHSL) with a game-high 21 points, followed closely by Sharod Barnes with 18 points.

The Fighting Irish will return to action against rival St. John’s Jesuit on Tuesday, January 30 at 7:15 p.m. in the Sullivan Center. Tickets are currently available at bit.ly/3GUM8lG. Back on January 9, CCHS dropped a 62-54 decision vs. the Titans in the Titan Dome.
