Isaiah Brenneman Selected Student of the Month for January
Isaiah Brenneman is a member of the Fighting Irish boys’ basketball team, and he is a student ambassador for Central Catholic. Outside of school, he has worked in the community by helping at Mom’s House.
Isaiah was 1 of 9 local recipients of the MLK Jr. Scholarship, honored at the 32nd-annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship Breakfast on January 13. The 2024 Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Award is presented by the Alpha Xi Lambda chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. for exemplary leadership. Dr. King was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha, and each year the fraternity gives out scholarships to young men who are pursuing higher education.
“Receiving this scholarship is an absolute blessing for my future, and I am thankful to the Toledo Alphas,” Isaiah said. “Sometimes in life our passions can be our biggest fear. We limit ourselves because the dreams our passions hold may seem too far to grasp. But our purpose is aligned with what God has given us passion for. Always remember nothing through God is too far to grasp, so shoot for the stars.”
Isaiah plans to major in finance and minor in business in college, and he hopes to continue his athletic career as well. He is grateful for the preparation that Central Catholic has provided for his future.
“Central Catholic has always been a 2nd home for me,” he said. “Central To Life is something far more than a school, but a culture of love. Love that you receive from teachers, coaches, and administrators. During my time at Central Catholic, I have always felt the Irish love. I had multiple family members who graduated from CCHS, so I knew what to expect. My family and I expected an athletic culture of winning, an academic culture of success, and a loving culture of faith. In my 4 years here, I can proudly say my expectations of this school were met. There is pride in coming from Central Catholic, and I am proud to say I am a member of the Central Catholic family.”
“Isaiah is a leader and encompasses all the great things about CCHS,” said Mike Floyd, Fighting Irish head basketball coach. “Not only is he a phenomenal athlete, but he also excels academically and serves as a retreat leader. He has been instrumental in the growth and development of our basketball program and has provided a great example for the younger players in our program. I am proud of his growth over the past 3 years and am excited to follow his journey once he graduates."
