Girls’ Basketball Dismantles Start at Home, 53-27

The Central Catholic girls’ basketball team registered a convincing 53-27 victory against Start on Thursday in the Sullivan Center. With the 26-point home win, the Fighting Irish improve to 9-5 on the season.

CCHS raced out to a 26-12 lead vs. the Spartans at halftime and never looked back, defeating Start for the 2nd time this season. Back on November 29 in its opener, the Fighting Irish doubled up the Spartans, 66-33, on the road.

Senior Corniya Clay paced the Scarlet & Gray with 12 points, followed closely by sophomore Nina Stevens with 11 points.

The Spartans (6-9) were led by Komara Sylvester with 12 points.

Earlier in the evening, the CCHS junior varsity squad tallied a 39-19 home triumph vs. Start.

Central Catholic will return to the court against Ottawa-Glandorf on Saturday, January 27, at 12:30 p.m. in the Robert J Hermiller Gymnasium.
