Girls’ Basketball Stuns State-Ranked Ottawa-Glandorf on Road, 56-55
The Central Catholic girls’ basketball team stunned state-ranked Ottawa Glandorf, 56-55, on Saturday in the OGHS Gymnasium. With the impressive road victory, the Fighting Irish improve to 10-5 on the season.
Senior Brooklyn Vaughn paced CCHS with 16 points, while classmate Corniya Clay and sophomore Ava Pietras each had 12 points.
Karsyn Erford finished with a game-high 20 points to lead the Titans (16-2), followed closely by Erin Kaufman with 18 points. The Titans are ranked No. 2 in the latest Division III Associated Press state poll.
Earlier in the afternoon, the CCHS junior varsity squad sustained squad a 42-26 road loss vs. Ottawa-Glandorf.
Central Catholic will return to the court against Perrysburg on Monday, January 29 at 7:15 p.m. in the Sullivan Center. Tickets are currently available at bit.ly/3GUM8lG.
In conjunction with Monday’s game, CCHS will hold a 50/50 raffle and a special basket raffle to benefit Colton Stanley and his family. Colton is the 4-year-old son of CCHS teacher and head girls’ basketball coach, Corri (Helldobler) Stanley (Class of 2003), and he is fighting T-cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma.
Colton and the Stanley family will participate in an honorary jump ball prior to the contest. Colton will be presented with a custom Wilson ball and a $500 check from Parker’s Purpose, a foundation that provides service to those in need and strives to foster self-esteem to those who give.
