Boys’ Basketball Loses at University of Detroit Jesuit, 70-46

The Central Catholic boys’ basketball team suffered a 70-46 loss at the University of Detroit Jesuit on Friday in the UDJ Main Gym. With the road setback, CCHS falls to 6-12 overall, 0-8 in the Catholic High School League.

The Fighting Irish were outscored 20-4 in the 4th quarter vs. the Cubs to sustain their 8th-straight conference loss.

Sophomore Manny Johnson paced CCHS with 15 points, followed closely by freshman Isaiah Mack-Russell with 14 points.

Xavier Johnson and Leroy Blyden each finished with 15 points for University of Detroit Jesuit (13-4, 6-4 CHSL).

Earlier in the evening, the CCHS freshman team registered a 44-42 victory against UDJ, while the junior varsity squad secured a 68-31 road triumph.

Central Catholic will return to the court against De La Salle Collegiate on Tuesday, Feb. 6 at 7:15 p.m. in the Sullivan Center. Prior to the game, CCHS will honor seniors Isaiah Brenneman and Darnell Emery, Jr. Tickets are currently available at bit.ly/3GUM8lG.
