Boys’ Basketball Outlasts SPIRE Institute & Academy in Overtime, 76-72

The Central Catholic boys’ basketball team secured a hard-fought 76-72 overtime win against SPIRE Institute & Academy on Saturday at the Coach Q Kewpee Holiday Classic at Lima Senior High School. With the neutral-court victory, CCHS improves to 5-0 overall.

Junior Michael Greenlee, Jr. paced the Fighting Irish with a season-high 22 points, followed by senior Micah Thames with a season-best 20. Playing without junior star Chico Johnson, freshman Makhi Leach added 10 points, while senior Sam Lee finished with 14 rebounds to help the Scarlet & Gray remain unbeaten.

Trey Thomas led the Fire with a contest-best 39 points.

Central Catholic will return to the hardwood against Three Rivers Athletic Conference foe Findlay on Tuesday, Dec. 21 at home. Freshmen will get things started at 4:45 pm in the Sullivan Center, followed by Junior Varsity and Varsity at 6 pm and 7:30 pm, respectively
