Boys’ Basketball Sprints Past Arch-Rival St. Francis de Sales, 51-27

The Central Catholic boys’ basketball team sprinted past arch-rival St. Francis de Sales, 51-27, on Friday in the Sullivan Center. With the dominating victory, CCHS improves to 12-2 overall, 7-2 in the Three Rivers Athletic Conference.

Junior Chico Johnson led the fourth-ranked Fighting Irish with a game-high 13 points, helping the Scarlet & Gray sweep the regular-season series against the Knights. Back on Dec. 10 on Bancroft Street, Central Catholic secured a 51-43 road win vs. SFS.  

Martin Beredo totaled 12 points for visiting St. Francis de Sales.

Earlier in the evening, the CCHS freshman team tallied a 45-29 victory against the Knights, while the junior varsity squad suffered a close 41-37 setback.

Central Catholic will return to the hardwood against Elida on Saturday in non-conference action. Freshman will tip off at 4:30 pm in the Field House, followed by junior varsity (6 pm) & varsity (7:30 pm). Tickets are available at https://bit.ly/33xfmXL.
