Boys’ Basketball Sprints Past Rival St. John’s Jesuit on Road, 62-46

The Central Catholic boys’ basketball team posted a 62-46 victory against St. John’s Jesuit on Friday in the Titan Dome. With the road win, CCHS improves to 11-3 overall, 6-2 in the Three Rivers Athletic Conference.

The Fighting Irish set the tone early vs. their arch-rivals at both ends of the court, snapping the Titans’ 4-game winning streak.   

Along with last night’s triumph, CCHS swept the regular-season series against SJJ for the 2nd-straight year, registering a 56-41 home victory on Dec. 16.

Junior Isaiah Brenneman paced Central Catholic with a season-high 22 points, scoring in double digits in the 10th-consecutive contest.

Sophomore Makhi Leach added 14 points in the impressive road win.

CJ Hornbeak led host St. John’s Jesuit (9-7, 5-4 TRAC) with 17 points.

Earlier in the evening, the CCHS freshman team suffered a 47-30 setback against the Titans, while the junior varsity squad registered a 52-40 road win. 

Central Catholic will return to the hardwood versus Findlay on Tuesday, Jan. 24. The opening tip vs. the Trojans is scheduled for 7:30 pm in the Sullivan Center. Tickets for Tuesday’s league matchup MUST be pre-purchased online at bit.ly/3EjJhky.
